Rippetoe Farm is a quaint, family farm nestled in the foothills of Western, NC. It is owned and operated by Tyler and Kyle Case of Lenoir, NC. They specialize in providing quality pork and chicken to the local community and beyond.
When I arrived at the farm I was greeted by a charming young man named Tyler and a humongous great pyrenees pup. They gave me a tour of the land, the baby chicks, the larger chickens, the pigs and the cows. Tyler explained some of their sustainable practices and why they operate the way they do. I was able to explore and photograph the land, animals and a few farm hands working on a new fence.
Their passion for farming began at a young age. The land that is now Rippetoe Farm was passed down from two generations to the Case brothers. Their grandparents primarily raised cows on the property years ago where they were able to experience farm life. Kyle and Tyler were inspired to revive the space in 2016 where they now produce pork and chicken as well as beef in the near future.
I have come to realize how important it is to support local farmers/businesses during this global pandemic. It’s critical to know where your food comes from and to support businesses that use sustainable practices as well as raise their animals in a loving and humane way.
